Before You Start: We highly recommend you read through all steps below before beginning your online application.

The 5-Step Application Process

Step 1: Start Early

Graduate applications require significant preparation. We advise starting the process up to one year before your intended start date.

Why it’s important:

· Program Deadlines Vary: Some deadlines are as early as 12 months before the program starts.
· Funding Decisions: Many departments allocate funding six to nine months in advance.
· International Students: You will need extra time to secure a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) and study permit.

Action Item: Always contact your specific department to confirm their application and funding deadlines.

Step 2: Choose Your Graduate Program

Explore over 500 graduate programs across 300 research areas to find the right fit for you.

· Find Your Program: Browse the Graduate Programs page.

Note: Applicants to professional programs like the MD, DDS, PharmD, or JD should visit the undergraduate programs page.

Step 3: Review Entrance Requirements

All applicants must meet the general entrance requirements set by the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (GPS).

· General Requirements: Canadian Applicants | International Applicants
· Program-Specific Requirements: Check your program’s page for any additional requirements.

Important for Thesis-Based Applicants: You may be required to secure a potential supervisor before you apply. Check your program’s requirements.
