Program Overview
The Chemers Neustein SURF program at The Rockefeller University offers highly motivated undergraduate students in the life or physical sciences an intensive,hands-on research experience. Each summer, 25 outstanding sophomores and juniors are selected to work under the guidance of faculty, postdoctoral, and graduate student mentors on individualized projects.

Program Benefits

· Stipend: A $6,500 stipend for the 10-week program.
· Housing: Free housing is provided for non-commuting students.
· Mentorship: Direct mentorship and a customized research project in your field of interest.
· Eligibility: The program is open to international students.

Application Requirements
A complete application must include the following,submitted via the online application portal:

1. Online Application Form
2. Summary Statement: A two-page, single-spaced essay detailing your:
   · Academic background and scientific interests
   · Research experience (if any) and career goals
   · Reasons for applying and how you would both contribute to and benefit from the SURF program
3. Official Transcript
4. Two Letters of Recommendation: These are critical and should preferably come from professors or research mentors. Letters must be submitted online or mailed directly by the recommender to the address below.

Important Notes for Applicants

· Lab Placements: While you should state your research and lab preferences in your application, specific placements cannot be guaranteed. The Dean’s Office centrally manages all lab assignments; students should not contact labs directly.
· Review Process: Applications are reviewed in the order they are received. Please ensure your contact information is correct and accessible for the first two weeks of March.
